The image depicts an extensively damaged urban residential area in Khan Yunis, Palestinian Territory, under an overcast sky. Three multi-story buildings, constructed from concrete and painted a light tan, dominate the scene. The central building shows catastrophic structural damage, with multiple floors having their exterior walls completely or partially blown out, exposing rebar, concrete slabs, and interior rooms. Decorative arched elements on its upper facade are also damaged. The building on the left exhibits similar widespread damage, with large sections of its facade missing and some window openings covered with white sheeting. The building on the right also has visible damage, though less severe from this angle, with red laundry hanging from an upper-floor window. The ground between and around these structures is unpaved, sandy, and covered with vast amounts of rubble, concrete debris, scattered trash, and mounds of earth. Sparse green vegetation grows intermittently. In the foreground, centrally located on the sandy ground, stands a light-colored canvas tent with a pitched roof and visible windows. In the mid-ground, near the base of the damaged buildings on the left, two small figures, possibly children, are visible walking on a sandy path amidst the debris. Various makeshift shelters or storage areas constructed from tarpaulins (green, white) and at least two black cylindrical water tanks are visible near the foundations of the damaged buildings.
